A distinctive conifer (gymnosperm) identified by its lanceolate  evergreen leaves, similar to those of the Nerium oleander (hence the specific name).  A spreading branch habit with hanging branchlets; leaves glossy dark green above and glaucous, matt green underneath. Inconspicuous male and female flowers are usually borne on different trees; female flowers developing into a fleshy dark purple fruit and seed. A group of conifers which originate from the Southern hemisphere.
