In addition to the shrubs listed amongst the hundred and twenty plus Specimen Plants  – those either found individually within the park, or regarded of great botanical interest – there are also many more examples of  smaller plantings of Shrubs and Hedging which are repeated features throughout the area, and which are worthy of attention. Below is a fairly comprehensive list which encompasses both these groups, based on my border by border survey of the park in 2011, later visits in 2012/3, and gaps filled in by referring to the new 2014 guide.  As mentioned previously, the plantings evolve and change over time, some may have been moved and others added, but as this blog develops I’ll add as many photos and profiles as possible – check the “drop down menu” on here…

HEDGING

Whilst many of the shrubs mentioned above are found individually within the Parque, there are also many repeated plantings in hedge form of Cestrum nocturnum, Duranta repens, Myrtus communis, Nandina domestica, Pittosporum tobira, Schefflera elegantissima, Viburnum tinus.
