Dombeya x cayeusii (syn. cayeuxii)
“Pink Snowball Tree.”
An evergreen but frost tender shrub or small tree grown for its large, pink ball flowers appearing in pendant clusters, winter through to spring (seen here in the Parque February 2010). Another large specimen can be viewed in the Jardin Botanico “La Concepcion” just outside the city. This form is considered to be a hybrid of two African parents, D.burgessiae and D.wallichii.
